Dec 3 - Football and Beach
Woke up and had cereal again today (this time accompanied by an orange and leftover carrots) and to my surprise there was an NFL game on tv! Real sports (none of this rugby or cricket nonsense) make me so happy. Watched the first half of the Eagles vs. Texans game then checked out of the hostel. Made our way over to the bus station (which was difficult due to several roads being closed for constuction between the hostel and the station) and hopped on the bus to Scarborough. When we got to the hostel around noon, the reception was closed until 3 (typical Perth luck for us) so we hung around for a bit, ate sandwiches for lunch and then checked out the beautiful beach just down the road. Once 3 rolled around, we walked back up to the hostel and checked in. Got a 4-share dorm room and did the usual check-in ritual of making the beds, unpacking the essentials from the backpacks and saying hi to the roommates. Then it was time for some food (real food; those sandwiches just didn't do the trick) so we walked a couple KMs to a little strip mall and ordered some pizza and bought breakfast groceries while we waited for the za to be cooked. Enjoyed the pizza on a bus stop bench then wandered back to the hostel and put the groceries away. There's not much to do in this little suburb of Perth and even less to do at the hostel. Spent the rest of the evening watching the news, then tv, then a Leslie Nielson marathon that came on. Got through Airplane (or Flying High as it's called here) and half of Naked Gun before calling it a night.
