Dec 29 - Job Application Spree and Reading in the Park
Got up today and fired up the netbook to search for jobs. This is beginning to become a trend. I applied for 4 jobs on Gumtree; two waiter jobs, a sales job and a hostel cleaning job. Cream of the job crop, no doubt. Then I watched Seinfeld and an episode of Charlie's Angels as I enjoyed a tasty breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, peanut butter toast, an apple, an orange, and a banana. That's what I call a complete breakfast. I walked to a key cutting place to see if I could get another copy of the building key made, but the guy wouldn't cut it and suggested I talk to a locksmith. Deciding to do that later, I walked over to Hyde Park and sat on a bench listening to music and reading Catch 22 for awhile. Once I was sufficiently frustrated with how the plot was progressing, I went back to the apartment. I applied for a job with a men's fashion store called Yd and looked up a locksmith. I dropped a resume at the Italian restaurant across the street and was told to come back tomorrow and talk to the lady who owned the place about a position as a kitchen-hand. So that actually has a little bit of promise, unlike the thirty or so other jobs I applied for this month. I walked over to the locksmith building and struggled to find the place. After asking around, I found the shop (that had a completely different name than the one listed on Google) and it was closed, 45 minutes early. Great. Walked back to the apartment and got a call from a lady about a free futon. We just had to pick it up. However, it was 4 KM away, and Brennan wouldn't walk there and carry it back with me, so I called the lady back and said thanks, but no thanks. So the futon hunt continues. Went for a walk, wandering through the CBD for awhile, then came back to the apartment and made pasta for dinner. Read another Catch 22 chapter, then watched TV. Tonight included How I Met Your Mother, CSI Miami, and Batman Returns (which is probably the most ridiculous Batman ever made). Tomorrow, the job hunt continues and who knows what else.
