Dec 15 - Staying Indoors and Job Hunting

Slept til around noon again today. Both of us have colds that are taking a toll on the energy levels. Got up and had a big breakfast of eggs, toast/jam, banana, orange and milk. Then went back to the room and searched online for jobs. For hours. Took turns using the laptop to scour the main job site in Australia. Stopped for a bit to make some pasta for dinner with a few raw carrots on the side. Then back to the search. There are a lot of job postings, but most are permanent positions, and while we can lie now and say we're going to stay, realistically when they find out we are only on a working visa, that will be the end of the interview. So we're going for contract or temporary work with companies, ideally in office jobs. I'm going for marketing-related jobs and Brennan is going for accounting jobs and both of us will settle for office admin work as well. Today also entailed polishing the resume and writing a lot of cover letters. Each job has different buzzword requirements that require us to edit our cover letters to fit it. Later in the evening we had a Subway break, which was much more delicious than our pasta dinner. Brennan bought the book Catch-22 that he delved into late tonight. He picked it up on his walk today. We each took a long walk while the other was using the computer. In the end, Brennan applied for 5 jobs I think (most of which were accounting ones). I applied for 8, yes, count them, 8 jobs. They ranged from marketing assistants to office support to admin at the Australian Institute of Music. This also meant I wrote 8 separate cover letters, or at least wrote one and edited it extensively 7 times. My brain is numb. Time for bed. Hopefully I get some calls tomorrow about jobs.
